Officers responded to the intersection of River Street and University Plaza Drive in Hackensack at approximately 1:20 p.m. on a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle, Deputy Chief Gregory Zisa said.
An 18-year-old Elmwood Park driver was making a left turn in a 2017 Nissan Rogue, onto River Street when he struck the pedestrian, who was reportedly in the crosswalk crossing River Street, Zisa said.
The pedestrian suffered head and back injuries believed to be non-life-threatening and was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for evaluation and treatment, according to Zisa.
The driver was issued a summons for failure to yield to a pedestrian, police said.
